New York Stories Manhattan Premier
New York Stories grew out of a meeting between Megan Moynihan and Sara Knight to discuss swimming the English Channel. At the end of the meeting Megan gave Sara a set of postcards of John Baer’s 1950s photographs.
Sara looked through them and said “I’ve got to do a ballet with these.” Megan was surprised; she hadn’t known that Sara was the founder and Artistic Director of Chevalier Ballet, a classically trained company
New York Stories premiered in 2024 at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, and has been performed in Brooklyn and Manhattan. After a traditional ballet, dancers changed out of their tutus and the “corps de ballet” became an asphalt crew.
