In a series of photographs American GIs play ball next to a farmhouse with laundry hanging on a clothesline and a chicken coop in the outfield. Two young girls stand watching. Men from their village, perhaps their fathers, had gone to war against the Allies, and now American soldiers were playing in their yard.
